697 - Mockumentary March Week 3

 

This week, your friends Count Vardulon and DM wrap up mockumentary March with the third instalment in the Horror in the High Desert series. It does not disappoint. 658 - Found Footage Fiesta

This week, your friends Count Vardulon and DM return to their favourite horror sub-genre with a couple of found footage movies. Deadstream does a great job making you dislike its main character, and Hell House LLC Origins does a bad job expanding the Hell House mythos. Tune in for a documentary recommendation and stay for a tangential self-promotion for a video made nearly a decade ago. 

531 - Found BTS Footage

This week, your friends Count Vardulon and DM make the ill-advised decision to watch Haunted 3: Spirits, the action-lacking continuation of Haunted 2: Apparitions. The good news is they also got round to finally seeing Found Footage 3D. Tune in for a discussion about how much Nutella costs, and stay for a book report.

529 - Second-Acting

This week, your friends Count Vardulon and DM watch sequels to movies they haven't seen and speculate as to what happens in those first films. Paranoia Tapes 2: Press Play manages to screw up its framing device, and Haunted 2: Apparitions might be the most boring ghost hunting movie ever made. Tune for some complaining about the new Unsolved Mysteries, and stay for a mini-review of a new movie on Prime.

521 - Surprise Apocalypses

This week, your friends Count Vardulon and DM watch a couple of found footage movies about the end of the world, which begs the question, How do they exist? Encounters is, obviously, about aliens with some awesome but underused effects, and Apocalypse Cult is exactly what it says on the box. Tune in for a book report and stay for a back-handed video game recommendation.

505 - Cryptodumbologists

This week, your friends Count Vardulon and DM watch a found footage movie about not-bigfoot and a bigfoot movie that should be found footage. Cold Ground doesn't know how frostbite works and Hoax doesn't know what a hoax is. Tune for a book report, and stay for a decade-end list with some questionable content.

501 - We All Scream

This week, your friends Count Vardulon and DM watch two very different movies. Screamers is a Canadian scifi film from 1995, and Bad Ben 2 is a single-location found footage movie from 2018. Tune in for a vocabulary lesson, and stay for discussion about is and isn't scifi.

480 - Murder House Flippers

This week, your friends Count Vardulon and DM watch a couple of found footage movies you've never heard of. One of them's from 2000 and it sucks. The other is a great accomplishment but still not very good. Tune for a couple of book reports, only one of which is on topic, and stay to hear DM get really mad at an upcoming horror movie.

476 - Red Pill

This week, your friends Count Vardulon and DM celebrate the 20th anniversary of The Matrix by watching a movie you've probably never heard of. And also The Matrix. Tune to find out what garbage TV you should be watching, and stay for a list that finally gives a certain movie the praise it deserves.

452 - Crowbars Are Cheap

This week, your friends Count Vardulon and DM kick off October with by announcing a month-long theme beginning with Hell House LLC 1 and 2. Turns out one is much, much better than the other. Tune in to listen to the Count ruin Taken, and stay for a list of "based on true events" made by someone who doesn't understand what that means.

408 - The Cthonian

This week, your friends Count Vardulon and DM return to theme shows by watching two found footage movies. Both of them have good in them, but that goodness is largely overshadowed by bad choices. Tune in to find out what's new in true crime TV, and stay to hear a list that was maybe already addressed on a previous episode.

407 - Second Chance

This week, your friends Count Vardulon and DM watch two movies that couldn't be more different. One of them's good. The other sucks balls. Tune in to find out which ghost hunting shows you should be watching, and stay to hear a weirdly qualified list of spy movies.

384 - Coming Attractions

This week your friends Count Vardulon and DM take a look at some upcoming horror movies. Bethany is, without a doubt, James Cullen Bressack's best film to date, and The Dark Tapes is a great indie found footage anthology. Tune in to hear a middling book report, and stay to find out about yet another TCM rip-off.

367 - Year Two

This week, your friends Count Vardulon and DM make good on a promise to cover a movie they talked about back in the summer. Turns out The Phoenix Incident is bad. Like, really bad. Extraordinary Tales, on the other hand, is wonderful and everyone should see it. Click for stuff that only matters to the Count.

359 - Blair's Witch

This week, your friends Count Vardulon and DM compare and contrast The Blair Witch Project with Blair Witch, and present a new theory about the witch's identity. Tune in to hear about the most anti-war video game ever, and stay to find out what you missed at TIFF.

352 - A-Hole with a Starship

This week, your friends Count Vardulon and DM lodge a bunch of dumb complaints against Star Trek: Beyond, even though they both really liked it. They also complain about The Levenger Tapes, but that movie fully deserves the negative review. 229 - Your Haunted Asylum Tourguide

This week on TheAvod, your friends Count Vardulon and DM watch TV. They also watch two (more) haunted asylum movies and something called Biker Zombies from Detroit that features an impressive amount of bikers but little else of note. Greystone Park proves that talent is not hereditary, and Grave Encounters 2 is half a good movie. Tune in to find out who's got the best haunted house, and stay to hear a reading from Loverboy.
